the story of a logo

In 2009 the tidal waves of time washed me ashore of the Majavatn beaches…. corny wording but that’s in a nutshell. In this remote area of Norway I met quite astonishing people. One of them was a young Asbjørn.

We fished together quite a bit and I learned heaps from the kid. How to make proper fire, why it makes sense to have potato chips in the backpack, how to prepare the floor of a Lavvo and how to fix a boat motor. Needless to mention that is quite the angler and learned up fly casting in just a few days.

We also went to Skålestrømmen. His first flyfishing trip. We fished for hours on end. One of these nights he stood in dead calm water with the most amazing night horizons imaginable as backdrop. I grabbed my iPhone 4s and snapped a pic. Heck, it even had ring of a rising fish. Perfect.

This picture became the cover of my Fly Tying Book and eventually turned into the Skålestrømmen logo. To me this logo represents what is all about. Living in the moment. Chase this moments, embrace them, capture them no matter how. In your mind, your phone’s camera or your super expensive DSLR. It doesn’t matter how you capture it. The point is to chase these moments.
